Welcome to Dorbi's Bookshelf! Feel free to peruse the shelves

Looking for a good book? I have a few recommendations!

This is a place where I'll be posting about books, whether they're the books I'm currently reading, or the books that have made a lasting impact on me. Feel free to sit down with a cup of coffee from the cafe. This one is on the house.

I tend to read on my Kindle Paperwhite, but I recently picked up an XTEInk X4 ereader that I can slip into my pocket and take with me whenever I leave the house. It's been a real game changer for my reading outside of the house!

All Time Favorites

  • Yumi Cover
Yumi & the Nightmare Painter, by Brandon Sanderson

Yumi is a beautiful novel, and was a breath of fresh air from my favorite author, Brandon Sanderson.

  • The Hobbit Cover
    The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Hobbit is a book that I re-read annually. For some reason, it has become a holiday book for me; something I return to when the weather gets cold, and I find myself wanting to sit down with an old friend, and a cup of hot cocoa.

Currently Reading

  • DCC Cover
Dungeon Crawler Carl [series], by Matt Dinniman

Currently, I'm on book 3 of the DCC series. It's been really fun, and has served as almost a palette cleanser of sorts. I can sit down with Carl & Donut, turn off my brain, and enjoy the shenanigans they always get up to.

  • CSM Cover
    Chainsaw Man, by Tatsuki Fujimoto

Chainsaw Man is something that I did not expect to fall in love with. I watched the first season of the show a couple of years ago and thought it was terrible. Some friends asked us to go see the Reze Arc movie with them, and we agreed, so I binged the first season to catch up. And, well, now I'm reading the manga, because I cannot wait for the next season to come out. I'm currently on Volume 9.

TBR Backlog

  • Tailored Realities Cover
    Tailored Realities, by Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson hasn't written a book I didn't enjoy yet, so I'm excited to dive into this book when I finish with the DCC series.

  • ART Cover
An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, by Hank Green

Hank Green is one of my favorite people. I enjoy his vidoes on science, life, and Ask Hank Anything. I haven't read any of his books yet, so this will be the first!

  • Locke Lamora Cover
The Lies of Locke Lamora, by Scott Lynch

This is a book that I've started a few times, and always fallen off within the first 20 or so pages. Maybe this time it'll stick! I've heard so, so many good things.

  • Guard in the Garden Cover
Guard in the Garden, by Z.S. Diamanti

This book popped up on my radar after having read Legends & Lattes and a few other cozy fantasy novels. I thought it was cool that the author was a veteran, and wanted to support a fellow vet.

  • Hooky Cover
    Hooky, by Míriam Bonastre Tur

This is a graphic novel series that my oldest got from a school book fair, and she's been smitten with it. She just wrapped up the 3rd book in the series, and has offered to let me read the series now too!
